Exercise for Pregnant Women
Exercise for pregnant women helps prevent back, joint and headaches, swelling of the lower limbs, helps improve body awareness, and after childbirth helps the body return to its original condition.

Exercise for pregnant women has positive effects in removing musculoskeletal problems that accompany pregnancy, acts as prevention against diastasis (separation of the abdominal wall), and uses exercises that support natural childbirth without complications. During the exercise we strengthen muscles that weaken during pregnancy, stretch and release muscles that shorten, and learn to be aware of breathing and the pelvic floor muscles.
Pregnancy places extraordinary demands on a woman's body. Changes occur not only at the hormonal and organ level, but also in the movement system. Adequate movement and exercise for pregnant women is the basis of a proper lifestyle during pregnancy, and its purpose is to keep expectant mothers in the best possible physical and mental condition. Pregnant women often experience back, head or foot pain. At the physio&care medical centre we try to prevent these difficulties from arising or to remove them as quickly as possible.
The physiotherapist has experience and is able to adapt the exercise to your current condition and week of pregnancy. Exercise for pregnant women tends to focus on strengthening the muscles around the hip joints, the pelvic floor and the arch of the foot. Sensitive strengthening of the oblique abdominal muscles is also included as prevention against diastasis.
Physiotherapy during pregnancy often also focuses on exercising the pelvic floor muscles, which are very important. Consultation with a physiotherapist is appropriate here, mainly so that exercise for pregnant women is performed correctly.
Exercising with pregnant women
Exercise for pregnant women focuses on releasing excessively loaded joints and the spine, strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and muscles with a tendency to weaken, and on relaxation. The goal is to keep expectant mothers in physical and mental condition throughout the whole pregnancy, when the weight of the growing belly often causes incorrect posture, incorrect breathing, and subsequently back pain and increased muscle tension.
Exercise for pregnant women also has great psychological significance for
- an active pregnancy
- an easier course of labour
- more effective management of the significant activity of the uterine muscles during labour
Exercise after childbirth
A woman's body goes through great psychological and physical changes after childbirth, and therefore needs enough time to regenerate. Our exercises are intended for women who want to get their body back into "shape" after childbirth, who want to gain energy, strengthen their body, but also relax. The exercises are put together individually for each client depending on how much time has passed since the birth and her state of health.
