Ultrasound Therapy – Equipment-Based Physiotherapy

Ultrasound therapy uses the mechanical properties of high-frequency sound waves to ease muscle spasms, remove so-called trigger points in muscles, release and warm up muscle tissue before exercise, relieve pain and inflammation, and generally support healing.

Ultrasound therapy at the physio & care Medical Rehabilitation Centre

The advantage of ultrasound therapy is that it is painless and can treat a larger area. Our medical centre has a BTL-4000 series therapeutic ultrasound. Ultrasound therapy is most often used for acute as well as chronic back pain.

Ultrasound therapy has significant physiological effects on the human body that help in the rehabilitation of affected tissue. Mechanical waves are absorbed in the tissues and converted into thermal energy, during which a micro-massage occurs based on the vibration of all atoms and molecules, even entire cells, causing a local rise in temperature in deep-lying tissues.

Therapeutic ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound provides deep warming of fine tissue areas in order to expand blood flow to those areas. In a broader sense, this can refer to any type of procedure that uses ultrasound for therapeutic benefit. The average session is 5 to 10 minutes, but can be longer or shorter depending on the patient.

Uses:

  • releasing muscles and connective tissue
  • local increase in blood flow
  • reducing pain and swelling
  • speeding up metabolism
  • osteoporosis
  • neuritis
  • Sudeck's syndrome
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Dupuytren's contracture
  • hyperemic and trophotropic effect
  • scars
  • and others
